Application of Demolition Hammers with Hammer and Chisel
The demolition hammer - sometimes also referred to as a chisel hammer - is driven either pneumatically or by an internal combustion engine. A chisel hammer is used for ripping, breaking, or chiseling foundations or ceilings. It is also employed in other construction tasks involving concrete and stone materials.
In road construction, it is frequently used for demolition work. The chisel hammer makes its way through asphalt, concrete, or solid natural stone with its characteristic impact noises.
The most well-known type of demolition hammer is the pneumatically driven variant.
Disadvantages of Pneumatic Hammers with Flat or Pointed Chisel
A drawback of a pneumatic hammer or compressed air hammer with a pointed or flat chisel is that it is less suitable for certain tasks. Although breakthroughs or demolition work (or material removal) inside a building may be useful for DIY enthusiasts, these tasks should not be performed with a pneumatic hammer.
The high impact force of the pneumatic hammer can damage the structure of the building. For this reason, using a pneumatic hammer is not recommended for such work. Additionally, the weight of the demolition hammer generally allows for predominantly vertical work. Depending on the design and size, horizontal work may be difficult or even impossible.
